Intarsia is a knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colors. Unlike other multi color techniques the yarn is not carried across the back of the work; when a color changes on a given row, the old yarn is left hanging. When you’re switching colors, you’ll need to twist the colors together in the back so that there is no hole. When you arrive at a point where the color changes, you need to bring the new color up underneath the old one (to prevent holes) and start knitting with it.
(1) Intarsia fabric has unique patterns, clear patterns and pure colors, and there is no overlapping of colored yarns on the reverse side of the fabric, so it is more comfortable and gives people a sense of clarity and elegance
(2) There is no dotted line on the reverse side of the intarsia fabric, so the longitudinal and transverse elasticity of the fabric are not affected, and the fabric does not add extra weight, so that the fabric has good performance.
What difference between jacquard and intarsia.
Gradation: jacquard are double -layer, with bottom and surface layers. The surface layer raised up, so it is called jacquard. Intarsia is a single layer, and the horizontal arrangement is a single -layer structure.
Color: for example, we knit a red, yellow and black jacquard patterns. In the same knitting row, the three color rows must participate in the knitting at the same time, but the color will knitting when need according to the pattern. Intarsia, also three colors of red, yellow and black. When the pattern is required for one color, the other two colors do not participate in knitting. In the same row, there is only one nozzle that drives a color knitting. When changing the color, another color drove another color to knit. Therefore, in the same line, a few colors appear in the same line and knit it at the same time. The intarsia do not need.
Thickness: intarsia patterns are thin and jacquard patterns are thick.
Beautiful perspective: intarsia patterns are more beautiful, and the jacquard patterns are relatively not beautiful enough.
Knitting: intarsia pattern needs to change the yarn nozzle in the same row, so the time will be longer. that drives a color knitting. When changing the color, one color droves another color to knitting. Therefore, a few colors appear in the same row and knit it at the same time. The intarsia do not need.
Knitting time: intarsia pattern needs to change the yarn nozzle in the same row, so the time will be longer.
